Earlier this month, we exclusively revealed the official renders and key specs of Samsung’s upcoming mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A25 5G. Several other leaks have followed since, while the device picked up necessary regulatory certifications. The company also went on to publish an official support page for the handset. We might finally have a launch date too.
Galaxy A25 5G tipped to launch in early December
According to WinFuture, multiple Swiss online retailers have already listed the Galaxy A25 5G on their websites. The new mid-range handset is expected to go on sale in the country between December 7 and December 19. While it is unclear whether the phone will see a global release next month, we do have an idea about its pricing structure. In Switzerland, the device carries a price tag of CHF279. This should mean a sub-$300 starting price in the US.
For this money, you are getting a decent mid-range smartphone powered by Samsung‘s in-house Exynos 1280 chipset. It is a 5nm processor with a maximum CPU speed of 2.4GHz. The Korean firm will sell the device in 6GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB variants, with the latter costing more. You get support for microSD cards of up to 1TB capacity on both variants, so storage should not be an issue.
The Galaxy A25 5G sports a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution (2340×1080 pixels) and a 120Hz refresh rate. All of this promises a smooth user experience as long as the phone isn’t pushed to its limits. The 50MP primary rear camera has an f/1.8 aperture and supports OIS (optical image stabilization), so photos and videos should come out fine too.
Samsung has paired the main camera with an 8MP ultrawide lens featuring an f/2.2 aperture and a 120-degree field of view. A “pointless” 2MP macro camera is also found on the back. The selfie shooter is reportedly a 13MP sensor, though our sources have hinted at the possibility of a 32MP selfie camera for the Galaxy A25 5G. We will have to wait for the official confirmation on that.
The 3.5mm headphone jack is still around
Samsung has removed the 3.5mm headphone jack from its pricier phones but it is still a thing in low-cost handsets. The Galaxy A25 5G will feature the audio jack. Other known specs include a 5,000mAh battery, 25W fast charging, NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, IP67 dust and water resistance, and dual-SIM support with 5G connectivity. The device will run Android 14 and One UI 6.0 out of the box. It should get updates up to Android 18. Stay tuned for the official launch in a few weeks.
