It seems like Nothing is planning to launch its very first smartphone next month, in April. This information comes from TechCrunch, as the company says it has bene provided by a “source with direct knowledge of the matter”.
First Nothing smartphone will become official next month, it seems
Nothing teased something happening in March, recently. Perhaps the company plans to start teasing the arrival of this device, or something. Carl Pei, the company’s founder, also published a picture with a Qualcomm exec from MWC 2022.
Both companies briefly teased their cooperation on an upcoming device, and it seems like that is a smartphone. The source says that Nothing has been working on a smartphone for over a year at this point.
The source did say that the device will share a similar design language and “elements of transparency” seen in the Nothing ear (1), the company’s first and only product thus far. These are truly wireless earbuds we’re talking about.
The company is working on several new products
Nothing did suggest it’s working on several different products, and it was assumed one of them is a smartphone. Well, we’ll finally see it next month, it seems. We don’t know much about it, though, as you can see.
The only details we have thus far is that it is expected to launch next month, that it will offer “elements of transparency”, and be fueled by one of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors.
If Nothing plans to make this a high-end smartphone, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 will be used, most likely. All the other details are still a mystery, though Nothing will likely start revealing them one piece at a time.
As most of you know, Carl Pei has plenty of experience when it comes to smartphones. He is the co-founder of OnePlus, a company he left back in 2020 in order to create Nothing, its new venture.
