There have been many adaptations of The Invisible Man made over the years. There was a theatrical release in 2020, Blumhouse’s The Invisible Man, which was written and directed by Leigh Whannell. The film was made on a low budget, so when it grossed more than $144 million, it was a tremendous success. The film has been credited with leading to the early development of other new adaptations of the classic horror movie monsters. Meanwhile, the team behind Fear the Walking Dead is hoping that viewers find just as much enjoyment in this newest take on the story.

“All the films that have been made about it are based or inspired by H. G. Wells novel and one of the most famous books that has ever been written which I think is why it is so popular,” Fear the Invisible Man‘s Mhairi Calvey says of the enduring story of The Invisible Man, per The Action Elite. “I think most of us at some point have wondered what it would be like to be invisible, it’s a super power and gives us ultimate freedom, to not be judged by appearance, go and do whatever we wanted and be anywhere in the world. Most of us have sat and asked the question what we would do if we were invisible. I think people are fascinated by that question and get to live a bit of that fantasy through films based on the premise.”

On what she hopes viewers take away from the film, Calvey added, “I think I would just like audiences to have fun watching Fear the Invisible Man, to simply be entertained. There has been a lot going on in the world recently and sometimes it’s just nice to switch off and have fun watching something a little light-hearted.”

Fear the Invisible Man will be released on Digital, VOD, and DVD on June 13, 2023, via 101 Films.
