The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is one of four phones that Google is slated to announce at its August 13 event. After sharing the promo videos for the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, we can now share the promo video for the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. It is in German this time, but it’s still pretty easy to see what Google is touting in this short 37-second video.
Google discusses the potential of having such a large 8-inch main display when the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is unfolded. One example is using Gemini to start planning a trip and using the main display to have Google Messages open side-by-side with Gemini. Google is also showing how easy it is to switch apps on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Similar to the Pixel 9 promo video we shared, Google also touts Magic Editor on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. While the new “Add Me” feature is not shown in this video, we do know that it will be available on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold (and the entire Pixel 9 lineup).
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold unfolds completely flat
One of the big criticisms of the original Pixel Fold was that it did not unfold completely flat. While most other foldables also didn’t unfold completely to 180 degrees, this was much more noticeable on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. But Google is showing here that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold does unfold completely flat, even in its promo video.
It also appears to have a new hinge too. Pixel Fold had a flat hinge in the center of the bezels around the interior screen. But with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, it is raised a bit, and looks a lot more like the hinge on the OnePlus Open. And given the specs of this device, it really looks like Google asked BBK to make the OnePlus Open/OPPO Find N3 for them.
Finally, the video also shows off both colors of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which we expect to be called Obsidian and Porcelain. And it is “With Gemini” as you’d expect. This launch has a whole lot of Gemini baked in, as we’d expect.
