Here is Google’s new Pixel 9 in all four colors: Porcelain, Obsidian, Rose, and Green.

Next month, Google is going to unveil the Pixel 9 series which includes this Pixel 9 as well as the Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. All of which have now leaked out. So we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from Google’s event already. Google is also expected to announce the Pixel Watch 3, Pixel Watch 3 XL and the Pixel Buds Pro 2.

With the Pixel 9, we can see the new camera bar on full display. This year, Google is changing up the camera design on its entire lineup, even on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. On the slab phones, Google is going with flat sides on everything, including the phone and the sides of the camera bar, which really gives it a rather unique look.

Another thing we’ll notice here is that the Pixel 9 has matte sides and a glossy back, similar to the Pixel 8 from last year. It’s a little surprising that Google is sticking with a glossy back, seeing as the Pixel 8a (which is a couple hundred bucks cheaper) is also sporting a matte back. But with these colors—with the exception of Obsidian—the glossy back shouldn’t show fingerprints that much.

Google’s Pixel 9 will have the least amount of RAM this year

Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold are taking a leap forward with a whopping 16GB of RAM, promising smoother multitasking and enhanced performance for power users. Meanwhile, the standard Pixel 9 isn’t far behind, boasting a respectable 12GB of RAM. This marks a significant upgrade from the Pixel 8’s 8GB, ensuring snappier responsiveness and the ability to handle even more demanding tasks.

Beyond the RAM boost, the entire Pixel 9 series is set to be powered by the Tensor G4 chip, Google’s latest custom-designed processor. One of the most notable improvements in the Tensor G4 is its vastly improved modem. This addresses a major pain point for previous Pixel owners, who often experienced frustrating connectivity issues. With the new modem, users can expect faster, more reliable data speeds and a smoother overall experience.

In terms of photography, the Pixel 9 continues Google’s legacy of exceptional camera performance. The phone features a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 48-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 10.5-megapixel front-facing camera for stunning selfies. This versatile camera setup promises to deliver impressive results in various lighting conditions and scenarios.

To top it off, the Pixel 9 sports a 6.3-inch “Actua Display,” a term Google introduced last year to highlight its brighter screens. We anticipate this display to reach around 2,000 nits of peak brightness, ensuring excellent visibility even in direct sunlight.
With these significant upgrades in RAM, processing power, camera capabilities, and display technology, the Google Pixel 9 series is poised to deliver a compelling user experience and further solidify Google’s position in the premium smartphone market.
