Today, Eve Systems, a leading manufacturer of smart home devices, has launched the popular Eve Light Switch with Matter support. If you are an existing user with a third-generation switch, you’ll be able to upgrade the device with full Matter support through a firmware update available in the coming days on the Eve app.

Talking of benefits, the Matter version of the smart switch offers the convenience of connected lighting without having to change a single bulb. That’s not all, it is compatible with either a single-pole or a 3-way switch.
Now that the Eve Light Switch comes with Matter support, it can communicate with multiple smart home devices and can be controlled through multiple hub platforms. The company states that the Matter-over-Thread technology ensures ease of use, enhanced security, and access for everyone in the family.
If you are running iOS 18 or later on the iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 series, you wouldn’t require a hub to locally control the Matter version of Eve Light Switch. The same applies to devices running on Android 8.1 or later. This saves you from shelling out an additional budget to buy another gadget to access the on-device schedules.
However, you’ll still need to add a home hub to your setup to expand access to other functionalities. Worth noting that you can control the upgraded smart switch using voice commands via Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant.

The Matter version of the Eve Light Switch measures 4.7 x 2.9 x 1.7 inches in size. It handles up to 15-amp, incandescent, and tungsten lighting loads up to 600 watts. Additionally, it can handle 15-amp resistive loads up to 1800 watts. Besides, the switch requires a neutral wire to replace a single-pole or a 3-way switch. However, you should only use it with copper or copper-clad wire for dry and indoor locations.
