Enola Holmes 2 Trailer #2 Offers Another Look at Millie Bobby Brown’s Fledgling Detective

Adventure strikes again for Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown in the latest trailer for the upcoming Netflix sequel, Enola Holmes 2. Released via social media, Enola Holmes 2 finds Millie Bobby Brown reprising the role of the lesser-known Holmes sibling, a role she debuted in 2020, with Enola Holmes taking on her first case as a fully-fledged, if fledgling, detective. Once again written by Jack Thorne and directed by Harry Bradbeer, and based on the young adult fiction series of the same name by Nancy Springer, Enola Holmes 2 will pick up with the character now working as a detective-for-hire like her infamous brother, Sherlock. Enola’s newest adventure begins after a young girl working in a match factory hires her to locate her missing sister. Before long, Enola finds herself drawn into a high-stakes chase across London, journeying from the city’s seedy industrial underbelly to the glitzy galas of high society.

Released in 2020, the first Enola Holmes outing introduced Millie Bobby Brown as the titular sleuthing sibling alongside Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes and Sam Claflin as Mycroft, with Helena Bonham Carter as their mother, Eudoria. The first outing for Enola Holmes was met with largely positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike and quickly became the most watched film on Netflix. At the time, that is. Enola Holmes was watched by a massive 76 million households during its first four weeks.

Both the streaming giant and director Harry Bradbeer are no doubt hoping to replicate the same success with the sequel, with Bradbeer having already set his sights on crafting a franchise for the streaming giant. “Well, I hope I’d have the energy for that, yeah. That would be amazing. Someone’s going to have the energy for it! It’d be wonderful to get five more movies out of this scene,” Bradbeer said back in 2020. “I do think they’re extraordinary stories to tell, and what a period. As you go forward, things like that three-wheeled car – which was a lovely thing we discovered – to find our characters playing on some of the new contraptions, at some point in the early 20th century. Of course, we get airplanes and the Wright brothers. Who knows what other challenges are going to come out of this really restless, productive period.”

Enola Holmes 2 Promises a Bigger Role for Henry Cavill’s Sherlock

While Millie Bobby Brown of course steals the show as the titular Enola, fans quickly fell in love with Man of Steel star Henry Cavill as the more famous Holmes sibling. Cavill is expected to play a bigger role this time around, with the sequel reportedly centering on the relationship between Enola and her elder brother, the famed Sherlock Holmes, as the former attempts to step out of the latter’s shadow. A task that becomes increasingly difficult when their cases overlap.

Starring Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes, Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, Louis Partridge as Viscount Tewkesbury, Adeel Akhtar as Lestrade, Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes, and Susie Wokoma as Edith as well as Sharon Duncan-Brewster, David Thewlis, Gabriel Tierney, Hannah Dodd, Abbie Hern, and Serranna Su-Ling Bliss, Enola Holmes 2 is scheduled to be released by Netflix on 4 November 2022.
