It’s not exactly a secret that Elon Musk and Twitter are going to court soon. Elon Musk gave up on the Twitter acquisition as it’s convinced the company did not provide the right data. Twitter is suing Musk because he gave up the acquisition. That being said, Elon Musk has opted to subpoena Jack Dorsey, the company’s co-founder and ex-CEO.

Elon Musk opts to subpoena Jack Dorsey for Twitter trial

That being said, the court battle is scheduled to start in October, as Elon Musk is trying to get away from his $44 billion deal to acquire the company. Musk obviously believes having Jack Dorsey there will benefit him, though we still don’t know how.

This subpoena refers to “documents and communications reflecting, referring to, or relating to the impact or effect of false or spam accounts on Twitter’s business operations”. In addition to that, it references documents related to how Twitter uses mDAU or monetizable daily active users as a “key metric”.

What’s interesting is that Jack Dorsey actually endorsed Musk’s bid to buy Twitter a while back. Back then, he said “getting the company out of an impossible situation”. Dorsey remained quiet on this lawsuit, however.

What’s also rather interesting is that it also requests “documents relating to incorporating mDAU into executive or director compensation”. Elon Musk obviously has an idea how to prove Twitter is in the wrong.

More ex-Twitter executives will appear in court

Jack Dorsey is not the only ex-Twitter executive that will appear in court. Elon Musk also opted to subpoena Kayvon Beykpour, Twitter’s ex-product chief, and a former head of revenue, Bruce Falck.

This trial will kick off on October 17, and it’s scheduled to last for five days. So, all should be over by October 22, hopefully.

The fact that Elon Musk backed out of the deal definitely affected Twitter as a company, and not only its stock prices. It remains to be seen if Twitter will be able to prevail, or will Elon Musk prove that the info he requested from Twitter was false.
