DXOMARK finally tested the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra’s camera, and it seems to be unimpressed with it. The company ranked the Galaxy S25 Ultra as the 24th best camera smartphone it has tested thus far.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra’s camera did not impress DXOMARK

The device ended up sharing that 24th place with the likes of the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, and Motorola Edge 50 Ultra. So, DXOMARK basically believes the Galaxy S25 Ultra is on the same level as Apple’s flagships from two and a half years ago.

As a reminder, the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is still ranked first on DXOMARK’s scale, with 163 points. It is followed by the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and HONOR Magic6 Pro with 158 points. A bunch of phones share the third place, including Apple’s latest iPhones, OPPO’s latest flagships (including last year’s one), and so on. Do note that some flagship camera devices are missing from this list, like the Vivo X200 Pro for example, which is, by many, louded to be one of the best, if not the best camera smartphone in the market.

As ‘Pros’ for the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s camera, DXOMARK listed good detail in zoom shots (especially at long range), good exposure, and wide dynamic range in bright light video. Good photo and video detail in most conditions was also mentioned. The same goes for natural skin tones in non-challenging scenarios. Natural video color rendering with neutral white balance in bright light and indoors is also listed.

There are quite a few ‘cons’ listed here

There are even more bulletpoints mentioned for the ‘Cons’. DXOMARK lists some autofocus instabilities in video mode as a minus for the cameras. The same goes for exposure adaptation issues in video. The phone also demonstrates noticeable noise in low-light videos and noticeable noise in high-contrast and low-light photos.

Furthermore, occasional white balance casts are also an issue, especially in low light. The last ‘con’ is occasional activation failures in bokeh mode.

There are, of course, a lot more details in DXOMARK’s full breakdown of the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s cameras. All in all, DXOMARK was surely left unimpressed based on what is written. The phone’s display impressed folks over at DXOMARK far more.
