‘Here’s the thing, we’re a team of thieves.’ Watch Chris Pine lead his crew through an epic adventure in the first trailer for the upcoming Paramount film, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. The trailer shows off everything you would expect from a movie based on the role-playing game, including magic, mimics, and plenty of dragon sightings. Honor Among Thieves is scheduled to arrive in theaters in March next year. Check out the official trailer below.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are directing the film and writing the screenplay. The pair have worked on projects together in the past, including the 2015 reboot of Vacation starring Ed Helms and Game Night starring Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams. Michelle Rodriguez, Sophia Lillis, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Hugh Grant, Chloe Coleman, Daisy Head, and Jason Wong will accompany Pine as cast members. Stephen Davis, Brian Goldner, Jeremy Latcham, Roy Lee, Nick Meyer, Courtney Solomon, and Allan Zeman will serve as producers.

Chris Pine Played Dungeons & Dragons to Prepare for the Role

Some stars from the Dungeons & Dragons crew were familiar with the table-top game, having played it in the past. However, the film’s lead, Chris Pine, wasn’t fully aware of what the game entailed before filming. During their San Diego Comic-Con panel, Pine shared his thoughts on the game and his experience playing it with his D&D-obsessed nephew, with Entertainment Weekly reporting the quote.

“He got my entire family together, who are essentially all actors or former actors, to play the game. What’s fun about getting actors to do it is it’s like improv class. You get a name, roll some powers, XYZ name, go on XYZ adventure, and then it’s all playtime. We had an absolute blast. I think a D&D class at schools would be so fun. You get disparate people to sit down together, and even if they have nothing else in common, it’s virtually impossible not to get sucked into the fun of the game.”

Fans seemed pleased with the trailer so far, with positive reactions and cheers from the crowd following the reveal. Hopefully, Daley and Goldstein can construct a better version of the role-playing game than the 2000 film, Dungeons & Dragons, which shouldn’t be difficult considering the 10% Rotten Tomatoes score. Audiences can decide for themselves when Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves arrives in theaters in March 2023.
