We’re all awaiting the next iteration of Apple’s budget-friendly offering, the iPhone SE 4. We’re not 100% sure when we’re going to see this phone hit the shelves, but we do know that it might be a bit of a while. According to a new report, the iPhone SE 4 will enter mass production soon.
Right now, information is trickling in about what this phone will offer, but it’s a bit tough. Apple is really good about keeping its devices wrapped up tightly before launch. Other companies (*cough* Google *cough*) could learn a thing or two from Apple. So, it’s a waiting game until the next bit of information drips in.
One bit of information we got was about the appearance. The iPhone SE 4 is rumored to look like a cross between an iPhone 14 and an iPhone 16. To catch you up, the iPhone 16 is expected to change the arrangement of the camera package, which will be a much-welcomed change. While the iPhone SE 4 won’t have as many sensors as the iPhone 16, we expect it to have a similar aesthetic.
As for the front, the iPhone SE 4 might get a display upgrade…. well, a seven-year-old upgrade. The company could bring the notched design that Apple introduced with the iPhone X series. The notch just won’t be as wide as what we saw on that phone. The bezels will be pretty thin and uniform.
The iPhone SE 4 could enter mass production soon
Right now, this phone is a blueprint waiting to be built. A new report states that it will officially enter mass production in late October. Mass production takes time, and reaching the desired number of phones takes months. Since it’s starting mass production so late in the year, we shouldn’t expect to see this phone before 2025.
Nailing down when Apple plans to release this phone is a bit tough. It’s not like with Samsung where we can predict it either launching in January or July during one of its Unpacked events. It has its iPhone event each year, but we don’t think Apple is going to wait until next September to launch the iPhone SE 4. So, we can guess that the company is going to quietly launch it at some point in the year or group it along with another hardware event (maybe a new MacBook event?).
In either case, this phone isn’t going to be coming soon. We have more than half of a year to wait for this phone. If you’re able to afford an iPhone 16, then you might want to consider picking up that phone.
