The Walt Disney Company, in collaboration with Miral, the developer behind many of Yas Island’s world-class attractions, has officially announced the launch of a Disney Theme Park Resort in Abu Dhabi. This marks Disney’s first theme park destination in the Middle East and its seventh globally, joining locations in California, Florida, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.
The new Disney destination will be located on the waterfront of Yas Island — a globally recognized hub for entertainment and family tourism. Strategically positioned, the island connects visitors across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe.
The announcement follows a strategic partnership between Disney and Miral, with Miral leading the development and construction of the resort, while Disney will oversee creative design, attraction development, and operational direction. Once complete, Miral will also operate the park, drawing from its success in managing other major destinations in Abu Dhabi.
Bob Iger, Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, commented: “This is an extraordinary opportunity for Disney to bring its renowned storytelling to a new region. We’re excited to offer a completely unique theme park experience that blends cultural connection, entertainment excellence, and cutting-edge technology.”
Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, added: “The concept will redefine theme park design — with immersive environments, groundbreaking attractions, and a modern castle unlike anything we’ve ever created. This project, alongside our expansions in California and Florida, also supports job creation and long-term growth.”
Miral described the collaboration as a major milestone in positioning Abu Dhabi as a global cultural and family tourism destination. The Disney park will introduce a new realm of experiences, set to inspire visitors from across the region and the world.
Further details, including the park’s design, themed lands, and projected opening date, are expected to be unveiled in the coming months.
