Tonight’s the night. Dexter is returning to Netflix in select regions beginning in March 2024, with the title now confirmed for a handful of international territories, including Netflix Brazil. The news is part of Netflix’s recent shopping spree on licensing titles in the US and abroad.
On Showtime between 2006 and 2013, Dexter is the critically acclaimed crime drama series headlined by Michael C. Hall and follows a blood spatter analyst who has an inner demon that forces him to become a vigilante serial killer.
Recently revived for a follow-up limited series, the show
Among the regions we’ve spotted getting the series coming back includes Netflix Brazil, which confirmed in a tweet that all eight seasons will return to the service on March 31st.
We understand that Netflix in the United Kingdom is also due to receive the show either on March 30th or the 31st, as well as in regions like India. We also found a few select European regions, like Italy, also set to receive the show.
Netflix UK has streamed the series previously, with it last residing on the service from 2013 to January 2018, according to NewonNetflix.info.
Netflix Canada also confirmed recently that it would be streaming the series, although it didn’t provide a date. We suspect it’ll be alongside other regions at the end of the month.
The news of the show coming back to Netflix comes at a time when Netflix has moved firmly back into licensing. That comes down to two reasons, including the fact that there’s an emphasis on viewing hours within Netflix right now because of their ad tier and the fact that Netflix’s competition is no longer keeping all of their content under lock and key. Paramount Global owns Dexter and, as well reported, is in a bit of a rough spot when it comes to its business.

Will Dexter return to Netflix in the United States?
One region we can currently rule out getting the show is the United States. Netflix US did stream the show for a long period of time with the Showtime series eventually departing in December 2020.
We’ve done our checks, and it looks like Dexter is not currently set to arrive in the US for the moment, so if you want to watch the series and the follow-up, you’ll need to do so on Paramount+.
Although Dexter isn’t currently planned for Netflix US in March 2024, the region is getting some excellent licensed titles. Vikings seasons 1-6 are scheduled for later on in the month, and other licensed shows like The Conners and The Jamie Foxx Show are also arriving.
