Qualcomm is going to attend the upcoming IFA 2024 tradeshow in Berlin. The company has announced that it will hold a press conference to introduce new SKUs for its Snapdragon X series for PCs. Currently, the tech giant offers four SKUs under the series. Three of them are under the Snapdragon X Elite series, while there’s one in the Snapdragon X Plus series.

The first crop of laptops powered by the aforementioned Qualcomm X series chipsets already hit the market earlier this year. All of them cost $1,000 or more. Now, the company is expected to introduce a new variant of Snapdragon X Plus at IFA, which will target more affordable notebooks. Ahead of the official announcement, popular tipster Evan Blass aka @evleaks has shared details of the upcoming Snapdragon X Plus SKU.

Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X Plus processor will feature an 8-core Oryon CPU

Some details regarding Qualcomm’s new SKU under the Snapdragon X Plus series already surfaced earlier. Now, Blass has posted the core details of the upcoming Qualcomm laptop processor. Per the promotional image the tipster shared, the new processor will have an 8-core Oryon CPU. It will be a slightly cut-down variant of the regular Snapdragon X Plus chip that has a 10-core Oryon CPU.

Notably, the upcoming Snapdragon X Plus SKU will flaunt the same Qualcomm Hexagon NPU with 45 TOPS of AI performance. Earlier reports suggested that the new chip will provide 3.4GHz single-core boost and 3.2GHz multi-core performance. Besides, the new SKU will get a cut-down Adreno GPU. It will feature a slower 1.7 TFLOPS max performance as compared to 3.8 TFLOPS of the 10-core X Plus chipset.

The new X Plus chipset will have support for three external displays at UHD resolution and 60Hz. The processor will support LPDDR5X RAM with 30MB total cache as compared to 42MB on the earlier model. Notably, the chipset for Microsoft Copilot+ PCs will have Always-Sensing ISP, Wi-Fi 7, and 5G connectivity support.

The new chipset will ship on sub-$800 Copilot+ notebooks

According to Blass, Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X Plus processor will power the Copilot+ notebooks priced around $800. Earlier this year, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon already said that the brand will address PCs priced as low as $700 with the Snapdragon X series solutions. These more affordable Copilot+ laptops are expected to hit the market at some point in 2025. Since the announcement is just around the corner, we’ll have official details soon.
