Just a few days before we bid goodbye to 2021, Samsung is treating its users with either the latest security update or the Android 12 update. For a bunch of Galaxy devices, the latest December 2021 update is now live.

Notably, as per SamMobile, the Samsung Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Fold and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 are currently the ones receiving the last security update of this year.

The update is reportedly live for the said device owners in the US. Carrier-locked units are yet to receive the update. Samsung is known to deliver the latest updates for its devices, and it is what it is currently busy with most of the devices on its portfolio.

Talking about the update, the first fold device from the company, the Galaxy Fold is now receiving the December 2021 update with firmware version F900U1UES6FUL1.

On the other hand, the update for the second-gen Galaxy Z Fold 2 is arriving with firmware version F916U1UES2EUL3. Last but not the least, the OG Galaxy Z Flip is picking up the latest security patch with version F700U1UES4EUL1.

December 2021 update brings dozens of security and privacy-related vulnerabilities

We recommend the owners of the Galaxy Z Flip, Z Fold 2, and Galaxy Fold update their devices with the latest security patch. Because it fixes dozens of security vulnerabilities.

For more information, you can check out the official Samsung Security Bulletin. Do note that the update is purely incremental in nature, and it does not include any new features for any of the devices.

It simply bumps the security patch level of the Galaxy Z Flip, Z Fold 2, and the Galaxy Fold to December 1, 2021.

As usual, the update is rolling out via OTA in batches. Meaning it will arrive for all devices gradually. If you haven’t received the update notification on your phone, then you can check for it manually as well.

To do that, simply head over to Settings > Software update and hit the Download and Install button. The system will start looking for a new update on its official server.

If it detects one, you can hit the Download button to begin downloading the latest security update on your device. As far as the Android 12 One UI 4.0 update is concerned, all these devices have already bagged the update in some countries.

However, the Android 12 update is yet to go live for users in the US. We hope that Samsung pushes the update soon for these devices in the US.
