Earlier this week Cyberpunk 2077 devs CD Projekt Red announced a new mini-game called Roach Race. This was a game that you could find and play it as a mini-game inside of the larger game of Cyberpunk 2077. And initially it was part of the 1.6 update that was pushed out for the game. Well you no longer need to have Cyberpunk 2077 if you want to play Roach Race.
Because CD Projekt Red just launched it on Android as a free-to-play mobile title. In terms of gameplay, this is a simple auto-runner where you play as Roach. Geralt’s equestrian companion throughout the Witcher game series, books, and TV show. All you’re looking to do here is see how far you can take Roach before inevitably losing. And as easy as that seems, you might find it more challenging than you think initially.
Along your escapades throughout the continent without Geralt by your side (or rather on your back), you, as Roach, will have to avoid all the obstacles you come across to complete the stage. If you do complete it you can move on to the next stage with likely even harder obstacles. You may even run into a monster or two. And to top it all off you can get special bonuses to your points by collecting carrots and apples. All-in-all, a great little game with no associated cost that you can play anywhere.
Roach Race is completely free
Not only is the game free to download, but it doesn’t have any microtransactions. So you can download it feeling confident you won’t be hit with any requests to buy items or other boosts. While not an earth shattering new mobile title, it does serve the purpose of filling up your time on a commute, waiting in the doctor’s office and the like.
The game also features global leaderboards so there is a bit of a competitive pace to things. The further stages you get to, the higher up the leaderboard you’ll go. Roach Race is available on the Google Play Store now and is compatible with most Android devices.
