Despite the name, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is looking really nice, as we get closer to the official unveiling on August 13. Google is expected to unveil this phone, alongside a number of other products at the event. Including three phones, two watches and a new pair of earbuds.
Now, courtesy of 91mobiles and Onleaks, we have fresh new renders of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold to check it out. It appears that Google is only offering this particular model in two colors: Obsidian and Porcelain. Those are the same colors as last year, and they do look good. But I’d definitely like to see Google add a third colorful option, like a Hazel or Bay color.
As was previously leaked, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold does sport a 6.3-inch front display, which will be the new Actua Display that debuted on the Pixel 8 last Fall. While the internal display is an 8-inch Super Actua Flex display. That actually makes it one of the larger internal displays on a foldable right now. Google also includes the Tensor G4 chipset and 16GB of RAM. No word just yet on storage tiers, but I would be surprised if it was anything lower than 256GB, seeing as the Pixel Fold started at 256GB.
Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold sports new camera setup, with old camera sensors
While the entire Pixel lineup this year is getting new camera modules, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is getting the most outlandish one. It’s really different from every other Pixel device we’ve had so far. This one is more of a square in the right corner, with three sensors. Which, unfortunately, are older sensors. So we’re looking at a 48-megapixel primary lens, a 10.5-megapixel ultrawide, and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto. Not exactly what you want to see on a foldable that’s going to cost this much, when the Pixel 9 Pro has dual 48MP sensors plus a 50MP main camera.
We’ll know far more about the Pixel 9 Pro Fold in the coming weeks, especially as the rumor mill keeps churning as we approach the August 13 event.
