Right now, AI chatbots are getting smarter over time, and this is good news for people who rely on them. Not too long ago, OpenAI announced a memory feature coming to ChatGPT. This is a feature that would allow ChatGPT to remember certain aspects about you to be used in future conversations. Well, ChatGPT’s memory feature is rolling out to more people.

Basically, you will go to ChatGPT and tell it certain aspects about you that you want it to remember. This can be personality traits, family, pets, your school, talents, Etc. ChatGPT will remember this, so you won’t have to bring it up every time in a conversation.

For example, if you tell ChatGPT that you have a gray cat named Lily, it will remember that. So if you want ChatGPT to create an image of your cat, you can simply tell it to create images that describe it every time. It will remember that you have a gray cat named Lily.

ChatGPT’s memory function is making it to more people

As with most new features, this functionality was tested using a limited group of people. However, the company announced that the memory function is making it to a broader audience. The OpenAI X account posted a minute-long video showcasing this feature. In the video, we see the user typing in information about their pets. It then remembered that information.

We then see the user start a new conversation, and ask ChatGPT to “create a photo of my pets writing a surfboard.” ChatGPT was able to create the image of the pets in a new conversation without the user having to describe the pets again. This could come in really useful for people who don’t like to reiterate themselves.

Also in the video, we see the person accessing their saved memories by clicking on the Memory updated button that appears below the chat.

ChatGPT is also getting temporary chats

This next feature actually does the opposite. Rather than having ChatGPT remembering information about you through chats, this feature will create one-off chats. The thing is, you don’t need ChatGPT to keep a record of every single conversation you have. Sometimes, you just want help with one question, or you just want it to generate one story.

Well, ChatGPT is coming out with a temporary chat feature. When you use this feature, ChatGPT will not save a log of that conversation. Also, once you leave the conversation, it will be deleted. So, you won’t have to worry about cluttering your chat feed with one-off conversations that you will never revisit.

These features are both rolling out now. So, there’s a chance that you won’t see them just yet.
