Android 12 has started rolling out for carrier-locked Galaxy S20 units in the US. This update arrived to European models about three weeks ago, and it spread to other markets from there.

Carrier-locked Galaxy S20 models are getting Android 12 in the US as we speak

Carrier-locked models in the US didn’t receive it as fast, though, but it is rolling out now. Samsung’s Android 12 update comes with One UI 4.0, of course, and it’s rolling out to all three Galaxy S20 models.

The Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20+ Ultra are getting this update with a firmware version ‘G981USQU2EULH’. This update also brings the Android security patch for December 2021 to the table, by the way.

Android 12, along with One UI 4.0, brings new widgets to the device, a new UI design… well, a changed one, a Color Palette feature, and more. Bixby also got a boost thanks to this update, as it learned some new tricks, while Bixby Routines have also been improved.

New privacy indicators are also a part of the update, as expected. Google introduced those in Android 12, and Samsung did implement them in One UI 4.0. You’ll be aware when your phone is using a camera or a microphone, as you’ll see an indicator on the display.

The update is rolling out in stages, so it may not arrive straight away

This update is rolling out in stages, of course. It started rolling out, but that doesn’t mean you’ll get it straight away. You may have to wait for a couple of days to arrive, maybe more than that.

You can check whether it’s available manually, though, of course. All you have to do is navigate to Settings -> Software update, and then tap the ‘Download and install’ option. That won’t force it to update, but it may speed up the process, as your phone doesn’t really notify you the second the update is available.

Samsung has been doing an amazing job with the Android 12 rollout, as tons of its devices already received it. Even some more affordable phones got it, not only (past and present) flagship phones.
