Call Of Duty: Warzone if officially getting a mobile variant. Today Activision has announced that it’s now recruiting for development of the adaption. This means that the game is probably nowhere near ready. As it sounds like development is just now starting or has barely gotten underway. Prior to now though, a mobile variant of Warzone was merely a rumor.
Activision seems to be hiring for quite a few different positions across a number of in-house studios. Including production, engineering, design, art, marketing and others. There are a couple of things to pick up from that. First, there’s a lot of open spots available. So, anyone passionate about the Call Of Duty franchise and mobile gaming is encouraged to apply.
Second, Activision explicitly says development is being handled by in-house studios like Beenox, Solid State Studios, Digital Legends, and Demonware. This will probably make it a bit different from Call Of Duty: Mobile, where most of the development is handled by Tencent-owned TiMi Studios.
The mobile variant of Call Of Duty: Warzone doesn’t have a name yet
There’s a lot of unknowns about this game at the moment. Like release date, features, and whether or not it’ll support cross-play with the PC and console versions. Though, we can probably rule out cross-play as Activision says this game is being built for mobile from the ground up.
That doesn’t mean cross-play won’t be available, but it seems unlikely. Activision also doesn’t seem to mention a name for this title at the moment. It could just be called Call Of Duty: Warzone – Mobile. Or it may just be Warzone: Mobile. Whatever the name ends up being though, it should follow the current Warzone brand because it’s well-known.
Activision says the experience is “being built natively for mobile with cutting-edge technology designed to entertain gamers around the world for many years to come.”
This suggests that there will be mobile-specific features and utilize the most advanced mobile gaming technology out there.
This will also be a live service game that Activision plans to update for quite some time. That means new content and features at a set interval throughout the year. Call Of Duty: Mobile already offers a battle royale experience. But it’s not quite like gameplay in Warzone.
With Warzone officially getting a mobile variant, players will finally be getting the battle royale experience that they’ve been wanting for mobile devices.
