During its livestream today Blizzard has revealed a server slam weekend for Diablo IV. Over the last 24 hours, players started to suspect that Blizzard might be looking at pushing out another beta prior to the game’s upcoming launch in June.
The studio had teased an opportunity for players to jump back into the game ahead of the launch, and that’s exactly what players are going to get. The Diablo IV server slam weekend will begin the second weekend of May. The point of this event is for Blizzard to really stress test the servers to make sure everything is as smooth as possible on launch day. And with that in mind Blizzard really wants as many players as possible to log in throughout the server slam weekend.
The test will be open to all players on all platforms. Which means you can play on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The server slam will go live on May 12 and end on May 14.
Diablo IV server slam weekend will have rewards for players
More time to play is more time to play. So if there was anything you didn’t get to check out during the open beta in March, now would be the time to check out the game. Whether that’s try out new classes, make it to level cap or explore more of Sanctuary.
There’s also the opportunity to earn rewards during the server slam weekend. So there is incentive to play even if you did absolutely everything you could the last time around. For example, players who didn’t earn the wolf pup cosmetic during the open beta will be given another chance to get it during the server slam.
There’s also a new reward to earn called the Cry of Ashava. This will be a mount trophy cosmetic, and is essentially one of Ashava’s teeth. You’ll need to have first reached level 20 before defeating Ashava during the server slam weekend to earn this. The good news is that players will have much more time to try downing this massive world boss.
During the open beta Ashava only showed up during very limited windows. But during the server slam weekend, you’ll have a chance to take Ashava down every three hours after the first appearance at 9am PST on May 13. The final spawn will be at the same time on May 14. So make sure you don’t miss out.
Additionally, players will be able to check out all classes, and content will be the same as the beta which includes the prologue and Act 1. You can read more about the server slam in the official blog post and watch the livestream video above.
