The Pixel 9 series recently arrived and promises to offer one of the best camera experiences in the mobile industry. In recent years, Google has also notably improved the video quality of its phones, but there are third-party apps that can take it even further. In line with that, the Blackmagic Camera app is getting support for the Google Pixel 9 series with its latest update.
Blackmagic Camera 1.2 makes the Google Pixel 9 series compatible
Blackmagic Camera first arrived on iOS last year with many options and possibilities to offer a “professional” mobile camera experience. In June this year, the Blackmagic Design team launched the app for Android phones. However, the list of compatible devices was quite short, basically consisting of a few premium flagships. That said, the latest Blackmagic Camera 1.2 update adds support for the Pixel 9 series. It seems the dev team didn’t want to take too long to make their app compatible with Google’s new camera phones.
But what’s so special about the Blackmagic Camera? Basically, it allows you to tweak a wide range of parameters that are not usually available in stock camera apps. Its additional capabilities are especially useful for video recording. After all, most stock camera apps offer a limited set of video parameters to tweak. For instance, many apps only provide toggles for resolution, frame rate, and night mode.
Meanwhile, Blackmagic Camera allows you to adjust shutter angle, white balance, ISO, shutter speed, exposure, and much more. It also supports features like LUT, HDMI output monitoring, SSD recording, exposure histograms, and audio meters, among others.
The update also brings bug fixes and stability improvements.
The Blackmagic Camera 1.2 update brings a number of bug fixes too. The Threads post mentions “improved stability when playing clips in the media panel” and “correct clip orientation for mirror front facing cameras.” There are also fixes for screen size detection issues on the OnePlus 12, as well as stability with Xiaomi 14 devices. Lastly, the update resolves an “issue with display of duplicate clip after recording.”
