From executive producers Kristen Wiig and Oscar Isaac, we get exactly what we might expect from the pairing: intense dark comedy in Big Gold Brick. Samuel Goldwyn Films presents us with quite a dilemma. What do you do when you run someone (Emory Cohen) down with your car, need your biography written, and you’re a wanted man? Floyd Deveraux (Andy Garcia), with the help of his young bride, (Megan Fox) shows us how it’s done!

The official synopsis reads: “Big Gold Brick recounts the story of fledgling writer Samuel Liston and his experiences with Floyd Deveraux, the enigmatic middle-aged father of two who enlists Samuel to write his biography. But the circumstances that lead up to this arrangement in the first place are quite astonishing—and efforts to write the biography are quickly stymied by ensuing chaos in this darkly comedic, genre-bending film.”

Brian Petsos has written and directed the film. This will be his second round teaming up with Kristen Wiig and Oscar Isaac after the 2016 short film Lightningface. This will also be his debut feature film. “Big Gold Brick is a phenomenal and unique dark comedy with a superb ensemble cast – Andy, Emory, Megan, Lucy and Oscar are exceptional and have great chemistry,” said Arclight chairman Gary Hamilton to Screen Daily. “Brian is a rising talent and has delivered a fantastic film that is sure to resonate with international audiences.”

The short is described as “an origin story, of sorts–Lightningface stars Oscar Isaac as Basil Stitt, who in the aftermath of an inexplicable incident, decides to sequester himself inside his apartment, setting the stage for a profound transformation.” Check out this trailer for the transformation!

With Isaac’s heavier fare like Dune, The Card Counter and Scenes from a Marriage currently in the spotlight, it’s a nice change up to see the actor cutting loose! Speaking of cutting loose, Emory Cohen is probably best known for his turn as Homer in Netflix’s The OA. The cryptic synopsis reads: “Having gone missing seven years ago, the previously blind Prairie returns home, now in her twenties with her sight restored. While many believe she is a miracle, others worry that she could be dangerous.” If you have not delved into that wonderful sleeper, now you have something to sink your teeth into after you can’t eat another holiday bite. Cohen’s role is nuanced and raw. Big Gold Brick appears to be light while remaining a dark comedy.

As for Megan Fox, she’s been a busy woman! We can look forward to her turn in Good Mourning with a U, starring opposite Pete Davidson and Machine Gun Kelly. She’ll also be lending her voice to the animated feature Naya Legend of the Golden Dolphin with Elliot Page, Kate Winslet and Gerard Butler. And she’s also making time for a little indie titled The Expendables 4, starring alongside Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, 50 Cent, Randy Couture and Andy Garcia.

Big Gold Brick hits theaters hits theaters and digital February 25.
