Lenovo brings one of the most interesting-looking computers to IFA
Trade shows like IFA are used to do several things. Companies will either use them to announce devices or launch them. Not only that but they also use them as a way to showcase their experimental and radical ideas that may never hit the market. This is the case with Lenovo. The company showed off the interesting Lenovo ThinkBook Auto Twist AI concept.
We’ve seen some radical laptop concepts from Lenovo in recent years. While this isn’t the most unique, it’s still able to turn some heads (and this includes its own). The headlining feature of this laptop is the fact that it can rotate its 13.3-inch display 270°.
While we’re used to laptops that can rotate their screens on the X-axis, the ThinkBook Auto Twist can rotate its screen on the Y-axis as well. This gives it a much higher degree of mobility than other laptops. So, you can use it just like a 2-in-1 with the ability to act as a tablet. Rather than having to lift the computer to put it into tablet mode, you can simply rotate the screen on the Y-axis and then on the X-axis.
Also, if you want to use it in Stand mode, you just need to rotate the laptop and rotate the screen rather than having to pick it up.
It’s all AI-powered
The real kicker here is that the computer can do this automatically. That’s right! The hinge that lets the screen rotate is motorized, so it can do so without you touching it. If you want it to go into Tent Mode, all you have to do is tell the computer to do so. It will recognize what you want it to do and move the screen accordingly.
It moves slowly at between 20° and 30° per second. However, this is a prototype at this point. If Lenovo does decide to push this to the masses, we’re sure that it will have sped things up.
Another application of this computer’s AI prowess is the auto-tracking. The laptop’s display will automatically turn to make sure that it’s facing you at all times. This could be very useful if you’re trying to watch something on the computer and you’re also moving around your room. Also, it could be useful if you’re giving a presentation and you need to be centered in your camera at all times.
This might not be the biggest smash-hit PC in homes this year or the next year, but it shows that Lenovo is thinking forward and looking to bring some exciting tech for the future. This is why it earned the award for Best of IFA.
