HONOR just crushed the entire foldable market with the global launch of Magic V3
At IFA this past week, HONOR announced the Magic V3 for the global market. It was previously announced for China. And it was met with quite a bit of fanfare. With the Magic V3, HONOR pretty much destroyed the rest of the foldable market. Accomplishing things that many other OEMs have struggled to do. Including making it razor thin, including a pretty large battery, great cameras and a somewhat affordable price.
With the HONOR Magic V3, the company made a phone that is almost as thin as slab phones, when folded at 9.9mm. And unfolded, it’s just 4.35mm thick. That’s even thinner than the iPad Pro 13 OLED, and it’s barely thicker than a USB-C port. It’s also lighter than many flagship slab phones at 226g. HONOR fixed one of the biggest complaints about foldables, thickness, and weight.
HONOR proves that you don’t need to use mid-range cameras on a foldable
HONOR fixed a few other complaints that users have with foldables, like the cameras. On a lot of foldables here in North America, the cameras are pretty mid-range. HONOR proved that you can use flagship cameras on a foldable. They included a 50-megapixel primary, a 50-megapixel 3.5x telephoto and a 40-megapixel ultrawide camera. And these cameras take some amazing photos. I’ve been posting some comparisons of it with other foldables, and it’s pretty much untouchable right now.
Finally, HONOR also fixed one more complaint – battery life. Since the Magic6 was released earlier this year, HONOR has been using Silicon-Carbon batteries in its smartphones. This allows the company to use bigger-capacity batteries in smaller spaces. So despite this phone being just 4.35mm thick, HONOR fit a 5,150mAh capacity battery inside. That’s larger than most other book-style foldables and even some flagship slab phones. I was using the Magic V3 during IFA last week, and it’s true, the battery life is legendary.
For all of these reasons, we believe that the HONOR Magic V3 has earned a Best of IFA award from Android Headlines for 2024.
