Bard Advanced will make it to the Google app, if you’re willing to pay

Ever since Google announced Gemini, we’ve all wondered how the company was going to balance it and Google Bard. Well, not too long ago, we got word that Gemini would be implemented into Bard, and the package would be named Bard Advanced. Well, it appears that when Bard Advanced launches, you’ll be able to access it through the Google app.

Shortly after announcing Gemini, Google announced that Gemini Pro, the middle child of the three Gemini models, would be powering Bard, and it currently is. So, when you use Bard now, it will utilize the Gemini Pro model.

However, the most powerful version of Gemini is called Gemini Ultra, and we’ve all been waiting for that to launch. Gemini Nano lives on the phone, and Gemini Pro is currently accessible through Bard, but we’ve yet to see Ultra in action- well, except for a semi-accurate YouTube video. The company announced that Gemini Ultra was going to launch in early 2024. Well, Bard Advanced is powered by Gemini Ultra.

This news comes to us from an X post by AssembleDebug. Within the Google app, someone discovered some strings alluding to Bard Advanced. The string reads:

One thing we noticed in the string is the text telling people to subscribe to Bard Advanced on the web to continue the conversation. This pretty much confirms the theory that Bard Advanced was going to be offered for a subscription fee. We’re still in the dark about how much Bard Advanced will cost when it eventually launches.

The post also says that some of the advanced features will not be available on the app. We’re not 100% sure what those features are, but we will find out eventually. We’re guessing that some of the multimodal capabilities like uploading images, might be exclusive to the online version. Also, it’s weird that you can’t even sign up for Bard Advanced through the app.

In any case, it’ll be pretty exciting to know what Bard Advanced has to offer. We’ve been waiting for Gemini Ultra to hit the market, and using Bard Advance might give us an idea of just how powerful it is.
