Samsung is expanding the availability of its August 2024 security update to more regions. Not to forget, the South Korean tech giant pushed the August 2024 security update for the Galaxy S21 series around mid of this month. Now, the company is rolling out the August 2024 security update to the Galaxy S20 and S21 series in the USA.
The Galaxy S20 and S21 series finally get the August 2024 security update in the US
Previously, the security update for the Galaxy S21 series was only available in Asia and Europe. However, that’s changed now. Today, SamMobile reported that the Galaxy S21 series users in the US have started to receive the August 2024 security update.
The latest software update is available for factory-unlocked models of the Galaxy S21, S21 Plus, and S21 Ultra. The monthly security update for the Galaxy S21 family is available on all carriers across the US. The new software update comes with the firmware version G99xU1UEUCGXGB.
Besides, the August 2024 security update is also live for carrier-unlocked Galaxy S20 series phones in the country. However, Samsung has yet to roll out this security update to carrier-locked Galaxy S20 series phones in the US, which also applies to the International versions. The firmware version for the latest software update is G981U1UESAHXG1.
The Fan Edition model of the S21 series is yet to receive the update in the region
The latest security update for the Galaxy S20 and S21 series in the US fixes nearly 50 security vulnerabilities. Besides, there’s no news on when the Galaxy S21 FE will receive its security update in the US. Earlier this month, the Galaxy S21 FE reportedly received the August 2024 security update in Vietnam, which also brought the Circle to Search feature to it. So, we expect the security update to land on the Fan Edition model in the US soon.
If you live in the US and have the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 series, check for the new update. You can do that by going to Settings > Software Update. If you find the update, you can tap the “Download and install” option. You can also try manual firmware flashing to install the new software update on your Galaxy S20 and S21 series. However, it is a risky and complicated process. Therefore, we recommend that you stick with the usual method.
