AT&T launched a new prepaid plan to assist customers with credit challenges in accessing premium devices and financing options. The AT&T Unlimited Level Up plan, announced via AT&T and reported by Droid Life, seeks to bridge the gap between prepaid and postpaid plans.

AT&T unlimited level-up features

The AT&T Unlimited Level Up plan costs $50.99 monthly with autopay. It includes 30GB of high-speed data, unlimited talk and text, and coverage across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Customers can also text over 230 international destinations. Despite being labeled “unlimited,” the plan operates under standard prepaid terms, with no credit checks or contracts required.

Prepaid plans, like this one, often attract customers who face financial difficulties or have poor credit. The absence of long-term commitments makes them flexible and accessible, especially for those unable to secure traditional postpaid plans.

Bridging prepaid and postpaid options

What sets AT&T Unlimited Level Up apart is its unique pathway to postpaid services. Subscribers who make six consecutive on-time payments can transition to a postpaid plan. This upgrade offers access to $0 down, interest-free financing on new devices. Importantly, the telecom giant doesn’t conduct additional credit checks, relying instead on the customer’s payment history under this plan.

This feature addresses a common challenge among prepaid customers—limited financing options. Typically, prepaid users must bring their own devices (BYOD) or pay full price for new phones, often without discounts. High upfront costs for premium devices, which can exceed $1,000, create barriers for many.

The plan allows them to prove financial reliability over six months. Afterward, they can access financing typically reserved for postpaid accounts, leveling the playing field for those rebuilding credit.

To transition, customers must visit an AT&T smartphone carrier store or contact customer service after completing the six months. This process opens doors to a range of devices and financing options previously unavailable to prepaid users.
