Crazy Rich Asians and Snake Eyes star Henry Golding does his best 007 impression in the latest trailer for the upcoming action thriller, Assassin Club. Released courtesy of Paramount Pictures, Assassin Club finds Golding leading the way as an assassin (which should be obvious) who undertakes the classic tale of being given one last job. And it’s a job that goes awry. Check out the newly released trailer for Assassin Club below.
Directed by The Transporter Refueled and Brick Mansions filmmaker Camille Delamarre, Assassin Club follows Henry Golding’s hunter, who soon becomes the hunted when his elite hitman is given his final contract: to kill seven people around the world — only to discover the targets are equally skilled assassins hired to kill him. His only shot to survive is to uncover the mysterious mastermind behind the deadly plot before it’s too late.
Described as a “highly entertaining, globe-trotting action thriller,” Assassin Club features an all-star cast of very familiar names including Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad), Noomi Rapace (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), and Sam Neill (Jurassic Park).
Assassin Club is scheduled to be released via Digital on May 16, and will be available on Blu-ray and DVD from June 6.
Henry Golding Is a James Bond Favorite
Assassin Club certainly looks to be a potential warm-up for Golding as the next 007, with the actor having been a favorite to take over as James Bond from Daniel Craig following the release of 2021’s No Time to Die. Golding has been a favorite for the role for some time, and while he may have dropped a little in the rankings recently, with the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, James Norton, Regé-Jean Page, and Gangs of London star Paapa Essiedu taking the top spots, Golding has expressed interest in joining the iconic action franchise.
“No. I think there’s been a few guys that have. Sadly, I’m not one of them, but I do know for a fact that the cogs are in motion for Barbara [Broccoli] so I just wish them the best,” Golding said back in January. “I think they’re going to choose the most appropriate Bond. I’d love to be in the Bond universe, not specifically Bond, but let’s play in that sandpit. I’ll play OddJob, it doesn’t matter. What would I bring? Oh gosh. I’d bring… I’d bring a sense of mystery, a sense of charm and good looks.”
Alongside Assassin Club, Golding has a few other action movies in the pipeline. He will join his fellow James Bond favorite Henry Cavill in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which will tell the apparently true story of a secret World War II combat organization founded by Winston Churchill and Ian Fleming, whose fighters’ ungentlemanly warfare against the Nazis changed the course of the war.
He will also join the fray in the upcoming Netflix sequel, The Old Guard 2. Directed by Victoria Mahoney from a screenplay by Greg Rucka and based on his comic book of the same name, Golding will join Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Matthias Schoenaerts, Vân Veronica Ngô, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Uma Thurman in the action sequel.
