The Apple Vision Pro could launch on January 27. The Cupertino-based tech giant is rumored to release the mixed-reality headset in the last week of January. The information comes from a Chinese publication Wall Street Insights citing supply chain sources. The outlet is the first to share the specific date of the Vision Pro’s release. However, it also does not have a proven track record when it comes to reporting Apple news.

The Apple Vision Pro could be released on January 27

Apple has already confirmed that the Vision Pro will be released in ‘early 2024’ in the US. However, the exact availability dates remain a mystery. As per the Chinese publication which obtained exclusive information from the supply chain, the mixed reality headset will be released on January 27 which falls on Saturday in the US. This is quite unusual as Apple rarely launches products on weekends. Maybe, the outlet is referring to January 27 in China (as reported by MacRumors) as it falls on Friday. In the US, it would be January 26 which falls on Friday.

Apple follows the tradition of making product announcements during the week, more specifically Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Mondays and Fridays are rare but January 26 in the US seems to be the potential time for Vision Pro’s release. A weekday product launch gives Apple the maximum media coverage and stock market reaction.

Apple analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman who have an accurate record of the brand’s news have previously revealed that the Vision Pro could hit the shelves in late January or early February. The Cupertino-based tech giant has already reportedly invited several employees in January to learn how to use and sell the device. Today’s report out of China seems to line up with the previously rumored launch timeline of the mixed-reality headset.

Vision Pro has two OLED suppliers to counter unexpected high demand

Wall Street Insights also reveals that Sony is the primary supplier of silicone-based OLEDs for the Vision Pro headset. There is also a secondary supplier which is China-based. This undisclosed supplier is said to play a vital role in increasing the mixed reality headset’s production capacity if there is a high demand.
