Many of you have heard of Apple’s ‘FineWoven’ accessories for the iPhones and Apple Watches. Well, it seems like Apple is ditching its eco-friendly ‘FineWoven’ accessories, but it has a good reason for that.

Apple seems to be ditching its ‘FineWoven’ accessories

According to a post from Kosutami, a tipster, Apple has stopped production of the FineWoven cases for the iPhones, and the same goes when it comes to watch bands for the Apple Watch models.

Why? Well, because of the lack of quality. The durability of FineWoven cases is not the best, and many people attested to that. Users have called out Apple over FineWoven accessories a number of times thus far. Even Mrwhosetheboss called out Apple.

Apple created these accessories as an alternative to leather, an eco-friendly alternative. These FineWoven cases got worn out rather fast, and they started to both look and feel odd due to that. Many people described them as “dirty”.

Apple will use some other materials, but it won’t be leather

The tipster says that Apple will be deciding on a new material, though it won’t be leather, it seems. Kosutami has been accurate in the past, for the most part, so we have no reason to doubt this. He was actually the person who shared the first image of FineWoven cases, even before they were announced.

Apple described its FineWoven cases as “luxurious and durable microtwill” made from 68% post-consumer recycled polyester. Those cases didn’t really hold up well despite their $59 price tag. The MagSafe wallets have the same price tag, while AirTag holders are priced at $35. Finally, the Apple Watch bands cost $99.

It remains to be seen what will Apple do this time around. Eco-leather may not be a bad choice. However, Kosutami said that leather won’t be used, so… we’ll see. Perhaps he meant real leather, which leaves room for eco-leather. Many Chinese smartphone OEMs use eco-leather on their phones, so it may not be a bad idea.
