The latest Apple iPhone 16 series supports new and faster MagSafe wireless charging. The new standard even beats wireless charging on flagship smartphones from Samsung and Google.

Apple MagSafe for iPhone 16 supports faster wireless charging speeds

Until recently, wireless charging on iPhone devices could support a maximum of 15W power draw. Moreover, this speed was achievable only on Apple-certified MagSafe chargers.

However, Apple has released a new, more powerful version of the MagSafe charger. This charging pad is compatible with all iPhones and any Qi2 device. However, the latest iPhone series of iOS smartphones will be able to charge at a higher speed with increased wattage delivery.

Specifically speaking, the new and official Apple MagSafe chargers can deliver up to 25W wireless charging speeds. This puts the Apple iPhone 16 series ahead of the recently launched flagship smartphones from Samsung and Google.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series can support 15W wireless charging. The Google Pixel 9 series can support anywhere between 15W and 23W wireless charging speeds. If a Pixel 9 is paired with standard Qi chargers, it can draw up to 12W, which is still faster than what iPhones can pull from most third-party wireless chargers.

Will all Apple iPhones support 25W MagSafe wireless charging speeds?

Every iPhone from the iPhone 8 to the iPhone 16 series supports wireless charging. The ability to draw up to 25W is limited to the latest generation of iPhones, and that too has limitations.

The iPhone 16 series smartphones will be able to pull 25W from the new MagSafe charger for a limited time. Specifically speaking, these devices will be able to draw 25W till the battery is 50% charged, or for about 30 minutes. Moreover, to achieve this faster charging speed, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro buyers will have to purchase a 30W USB‑C Power Adapter.

Incidentally, Apple doesn’t bundle chargers with any of the iPhone 16 series devices. Hence, buyers will have to reportedly pay $39 for the 1-meter version of the new Apple MagSafe wireless charger or $49 for the 2-meter one.
