Apple hasn’t yet boarded the foldable bandwagon. However, the Cupertino tech giant is reportedly experimenting with several products with foldable displays, even including a MacBook. This MacBook will be all about the screen as it won’t feature a standard keyboard. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously said that Apple will launch a new line of MacBooks with foldable displays by 2026.

However, Kuo now suggests that Apple has considerably changed its foldable MacBook plans. The Cupertino tech giant has delayed the launch of the new MacBook product line with foldable displays by more than a year. Notably, the analyst has also shared some information regarding the size of the device.

Apple’s new MacBook with a foldable display has been delayed by more than a year

In a post on X, Ming-Chi Kuo has provided a huge update regarding Apple’s foldable MacBook plans. The analyst suggested that Apple is facing many technical challenges with the display and mechanical parts. This has delayed the launch of the first MacBook with a foldable screen by more than a year.

Kuo suggests that the assembly mass production schedule of the foldable MacBook has been delayed. The company was expected to begin mass production by the first half of 2026. However, it has been pushed to the end of 2027 or even 2028.

Earlier, Kuo claimed that Apple is considering the use of an 18.8-inch or 20.25-inch foldable panel on this MacBook. However, he now reports that the company has canceled the 20.25-inch display design. Instead, the brand will launch the new MacBook with an 18.8-inch foldable screen panel.

New iPad with a foldable display isn’t coming any time soon

Furthermore, Kuo said that there was no indication of a previously rumored foldable iPad model during his latest survey. Several reports have suggested that Apple is working on a foldable iPad model that could launch in 2025. Kuo hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a foldable iPad. However, the lack of visibility in the supply chain sources suggests the device will not launch any time soon.

Kuo also speculates that some analysts might have believed that the foldable MacBook or iPad were the same products. However, this is not the case. Unfortunately, Kuo didn’t mention anything about a foldable iPhone in his latest post. Previous reports have claimed that Apple could launch the first foldable iPhone model in late 2026.
