Android 14 Beta 5.1 is here with Pixel bug fixes

Google started rolling out the Android 14 Beta 5.0 update less than two weeks ago. Well, another one just landed. Android 14 Beta 5.1 update is here, and it’s another bug-fixing update for Pixel devices. The same was the case with the previous one.

Before we get down to it, Google did say that Beta 5.0 is the “last scheduled update” before a stable release. The company doesn’t consider .1 patches to be proper updates, or milestone updates, so those don’t count basically. 5.X updates are the last ones we’ll get.

In any case, this update is marked as UPB5.230623.005 for Pixel phones, and UPB5.230623.005.A1 for the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. Alright, let’s see what’s changed, shall we?

Google has decided to disable the trademark live wallpaper on the Pixel Fold, for performance reasons. We’re talking about the feather-styled live wallpaper. It will be back, though, so don’t worry.

Now, there are three additional entries in the changelog, and they relate to all devices. Google fixed an issue that cause the system to stop detecting a SIM card, if Fixed Dialing Number (FDN) features were enabled.

Several bug fixes were issued in this update

Another fix was issued that took care of an issue that caused connectivity interruptions for devices with carriers using 5G standalone (SA) mode. Some devices also experienced a blank home screen after unlocking the device, which has also been fixed.

That’s basically everything there is to it. This update is coming with the August 2023 security update. The following devices are eligible to get it: Pixel 4a (5G), 5, 5a, 6, 6 Pro, 6a, 7, 7 Pro, 7a, Fold, and Tablet.

The update is rolling out as we speak. Some of you probably already got it, if not, you will get it soon enough.
