Summary: AT&T store employees have posted fake Google reviews, even using customer and family accounts without permission to boost store ratings. Despite AT&T’s policy against fake reviews, pressure to meet quotas is pushing employees toward these shady tactics.

If you can’t trust reviews, what can you trust? Reviews give potential customers a genuine idea of how a product or service performs. This is why we’ve always recommended that you check app reviews before downloading. This is a good way to watch out for potential red flags. However, it seems that some AT&T stores have been resorting to fake reviews to boost their profiles.

AT&T employees posting fake review

According to a post on Reddit, user jpropaganda discovered that fake review for an AT&T store in Seattle, Rainier Ave. To make matters worse, the employee not only faked the review but also logged into their mother-in-law’s Google account to post it.

The OP writes, “She mentioned that there was a rude employee who was not helpful to her but then she ended up getting help from someone else. Was going to just not worry about it and move on with her new phone when she got the alert that the store replied to this review. Wouldn’t you know it, the rude employee is the one whose name was dropped in this review.”

Not the first time it has happened

AT&T employees have actually done this before.

According to another report, user Blazing_Bee went to an AT&T store to trade in an old device and needed help resetting. “While we were getting it ready to be reset I asked them if they could check info on my account and that I wasn’t sure where to find it on the app so he asked me to open it up and he would show me. I handed my phone to him for him to locate what I needed.”

“He proceeded to get on my google app and post a review for the store under my name. I had no idea this happened until later on when I got an email stating that my review was replied to.”

Some of the comments suggest that AT&T is pushing Google reviews hard. However, the company has clearly stated it will lay off employees who post fake reviews. But due to the pressure to meet quotas, some employees are resorting to these types of shady tactics.

The post says that AT&T customer care has promised to reach out to the OP’s mother-in-law.
