Amazon is the biggest e-commerce company in the world, and it’s constantly finding ways to present products to potential buyers. This involves serving as many products in its customers’ faces as possible. However, according to Phone Arena the company is changing things up a bit. Amazon introduced its new Inspire feed, and it basically turns Amazon shopping into a social media experience.
We can’t deny the appeal of social media nowadays. Being able to search through text posts, photos, and videos in rapid succession is extremely appealing. Also, it’s the perfect format for discovering stuff on smartphones. The appeal exploded with the arrival of Tik-Tok popularizing be vertical scrolling video feed format.
So, Amazon developed the Inspire feed
This should come as no surprise, as other social media platforms are blending strolling feeds and shopping. Instagram has a shopping platform as well as Tik-Tok. There’s even an app in India called Simsim that’s focused on promoting small businesses through a Tik Tok Style video feed.
So, the Amazon Inspire feed seems like a logical step for the company. It doesn’t only take inspiration from Tik-Tok, it also takes some cues from Instagram. It doesn’t only have a video feed, but rather, it will be a mixture of videos and photos.
If you see something you like while scrolling, there’ll be a small button on the bottom that will open the products page. From there, it will give you more information on the product and let you potentially buy it.
Since we’re at such an early point in this feature’s life, we don’t quite know how the products will be curated. One thing about Tik-Tok is the fact that videos are largely presented at random. So, we’re wondering if Amazon will just show you a random collection of products to help you discover new or if it will be tuned based on your purchases.
At the moment, Amazon is still testing this out amongst a select group of users. The company said that it’s going to test it out during early December and expand it to the public in the following months. So, chances are you won’t see the inspired feed just yet. However, it will reach you soon enough.
