8BitDo makes an amazing controller for gaming and right now you can pick up the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 for just $59.99. As far as wireless controllers go, 8BitDo’s offerings, most of them at least, will work for multiple platforms and that’s what makes them so good. Not to mention a good value. The Ultimate 2 is one of the company’s latest offerings and it’s designed for PC, but it will also work for mobile devices.
It is worth noting that 8BitDo only lists Android as a compatible mobile platform with this controller. So it may not work with iOS. It has three connection modes so you can choose to connect to your devices how you want. That being said, not all connection modes will support all platforms. For example, you can use the Wired and 2.4GHz modes for Windows PCs, and Bluetooth for mobile devices.
Bluetooth isn’t listed for Windows but Windows supports Bluetooth controllers. So there should be no issue connecting this to your desktop or laptop through Bluetooth. The 2.4GHz and wired connections may also work with consoles like Xbox Series X and PS5. They aren’t listed as compatible though so we wouldn’t recommend this controller if you’re looking for that specifically. If it does work, consider it a nice bonus.
The Ultimate 2 comes with Hall Effect sticks to help prevent the dreaded stick drift issues. Additionally, it comes with a charging dock, as well as a trigger mode switch option for first-person shooter games. The controller also features a 1,000Hz polling rate so input latency shouldn’t be a problem.
And if you want even more advantages, on the back of the controller there are buttons you can remap. Plus, this controller comes in a few colors so you have options when it comes to style.
