Next year will see even more competition in the foldable smartphone segment. Samsung is reportedly shaking things up in its lineup by including a new Galaxy Z Flip FE as its most affordable foldable for 2025. The device will seek to make this type of product reach a wider audience. Although it will be cheaper, the Galaxy Z Flip FE could use the same display technology as the latest Galaxy Z Flip 6.

The Galaxy Z Flip FE could have the same display as the Galaxy Z Flip 6

Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 in mid-2024 as its next-gen foldable phones. The Z Flip 6 brought a much brighter display among its key hardware improvements, reaching 2600 nits—1750 nits on the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Now, a report from a reliable source claims that Samsung’s 2025 affordable foldable phone will feature the same display.

In response to a post on X/Twitter about the Galaxy Z Flip FE, Ross Young—an analyst and tipster in the display industry—said that the phone will use the “Z Flip 6 panel.” He didn’t offer any further details on the matter, but his comment seems pretty clear and concise. If the report is true, the Galaxy Z Flip will not rely on very old generations of displays to save costs. This is excellent news for potential buyers of the device. They won’t have to settle for a “cheap” display experience that could leave a negative impression of the phone.

There are no details about the external display yet

This also implies that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will bring some improvements in terms of display. However, there is no further information about it yet. It is also unknown if the Galaxy Z Flip FE will have the same external display as the Z Flip 6. Being a more affordable model, it is quite likely that Samsung will implement a slightly smaller external one. However, hopefully it won’t be as small as the one used on older Z Flip models that only served to view notifications.

For reference, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 features a 6.7-inch 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2x inner display with a 1080 x 2640 px resolution. Meanwhile, its 3.4-inch Super AMOLED external display runs at 60Hz and has a 720 x 748 resolution.

Lastly, a top Samsung executive recently confirmed that both the Galaxy Z Flip FE and Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be powered by the Exynos 2500 chip.
