A couple of weeks back, a Samsung executive confirmed that the company is preparing to launch the Galaxy S23 FE. While we still don’t have an official announcement, all signs point to an imminent unveiling. The phone has already received several regulatory approvals necessary before the market debut. And now, we have leaked case renders showing a familiar design.
Posted on Slashleaks, the case renders are rather rudimentary and have nothing special to talk about. However, they confirm the Galaxy S23 FE’s rumored design, which we previously saw in leaked CAD renders in late June. As expected, the new Fan Edition (FE) phone will feature the same camera design that Samsung has used in all of its smartphones this year, including the new foldables.
Unlike the previous FE phone (Galaxy S21 FE), the upcoming handset won’t have a camera bump. It will feature three rear cameras and all of them will protrude out of the back panel individually. There’s no bump housing them all together. The LED flash unit sits next to the cameras, which are stacked vertically. The Galaxy S23 FE will have its power and volume buttons on the right side, which is the standard Samsung design.
Note that the device shown in these case renders isn’t a real product. The Galaxy S23 FE doesn’t have symmetrical bezels or a U-shaped notch on the display. It features a hole-punch design and pretty chunky bezels. The chin, in particular, is a little too wide for an S-series phone. Based on the leaked renders, the device looks almost identical to the Galaxy A54 5G, which is a premium mid-range smartphone.
The Galaxy S23 FE will pack some flagship-grade specs
The Galaxy S23 FE may not look like a flagship phone, at least in renders, but it will pack some flagship-grade specs. Samsung will reportedly equip it with the same 50MP primary rear camera found on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+. The device will also borrow the 10MP selfie camera from the Galaxy S22 lineup (base and Plus models only). It will be powered by the Exynos 2200/Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the same SoC that powered the Galaxy S22 series.
Other rumored specs of the Galaxy S23 FE include up to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, a 4,500mAh battery, 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, under-display fingerprint scanner, an official IP rating for dust and water resistance, and stereo speakers. Considering the extent of leaks, it appears the official launch isn’t too far off now.
