Sony now appears to be beta testing cloud streaming games via PS5 with a select number of users. The company officially announced cloud streaming for PS5 was coming in the future as part of PlayStation Plus Premium. Sony initially announced the coming of streaming PS5 games to its latest PlayStation console back in the middle of June. At the time though, streaming tests were internal only. And Sony never mentioned a specific time frame for when the feature would be available. Only that it would share more information when the time is right.
Sony still hasn’t shared any new details about the streaming option publicly. But there are now reports of some users having been invited to beta test the new feature (via The Verge). One X user (@rdmetz) has shared a screenshot of an incoming Sony email about downloading the latest PS5 software beta. And part of that beta is the ability to stream PS5 games in the cloud.
Anyone else get invited to try the new #PS5 game cloud streaming preview / beta?

PS5 cloud streaming will load your cloud saves directly
Since the feature is now available in public beta testing, there’s a good chance this will be launched in the not too far future. This also doesn’t appear to be a small pool of testers. As users on forum ResetEra report being invited to test the feature as well. One user, ArashiGames, shares some of the feature’s capabilities. Cloud streaming PS5 games will support multiple resolution options. Including 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p. With you being able to select the resolution from the activity card. They also mention that games appear to load your cloud saves directly.
Which means you should be able to easily jump in to stream the game over the cloud after playing it on your PS5 locally without losing progress. Invites might be going to members who are subscribed to PlayStation Plus Premium and not just those that were already invited to the software beta, too. So you might want to watch for an email to see if you’ll also have access.
As for available games, it looks like there’s a decent selection of titles to choose from for testing. Including God Of War: Ragnarok, Destiny 2, Returnal, Fall Guys, Fortnite, Demon’s Souls, Death Stranding and a few others.
