Travis Scott made an action movie entirely in infrared for A24, but he’s reportedly refusing to let it be released

Well, folks, it’s official; we need better bingo cards.

An unnamed action film — shot entirely with an infrared, starring rapper Travis Scott, and produced by A24 — reportedly began coming to life as early as August 2021, and with an unlikely holy trinity having since been completed with the one and only Harmony Korine‘s presence as the director, we’re not sure how much more unhinged this state of affairs can get.

But, it seems as though the fruits of this screwball combination won’t end up meeting many eyes. Per The Film Stage, Scott has reportedly refused to sign off on a wide release, with the film seemingly being restricted to a members-only one-time screening at the Metrograph theater in New York on July 16.

Korine and A24 aren’t a terribly surprising combination. In fact, I’m surprised it’s taken this long for the wickedly provocative director to get mentioned in the same breath as the arthouse studio. The fact that Travis Scott and an infrared camera were the bridges for that once-gap is whiplash-worthy at a glance, but it also just might be exactly as poetically dystopian as the situation demands.

So, let’s recap the key nuances at play here. Travis Scott, A24, action film, shot entirely in infrared, directed by Harmony Korine, and you’re probably never going to see it. Perhaps one day we’ll look back on this and mark it as one of the earliest instances of late-stage capitalist meme hell mythology, and I personally fear for that day in a way that language could never encapsulate.
