A recent rumor suggested that the HONOR Magic V2 will launch on July 12, and that info has just been confirmed. HONOR’s CEO himself confirmed this during his speech at MWC Shanghai.
The HONOR Magic V2 foldable is coming on July 12, that’s now official info
He also added that the new phone will “revolutionize the foldable experience”. One thing to note is that the HONOR Magic V2 will launch in China. Its predecessor, the HONOR Magic Vs, did launch globally, though quite some time after the China launch.
The HONOR Magic Vs was 10% lighter than its predecessor, the Magic V, while it also brought a brand new hinge with a lot fewer moving parts on the inside. We’re not sure what is HONOR planning for the Magic V2, though.
The HONOR Magic V2 should bring even more changes to the table, as this is officially a second-gen product, based on its naming. The Magic Vs was basically the Magic V 1.5, kind of, despite the changes.
George Zhao, HONOR’s CEO, did not share any specifics about the device, unfortunately. He decided to keep everything under wraps for now, though HONOR could start teasing the phone soon.
We’re hoping to see wireless charging & protection against water
The Magic V and Vs models omitted some features we’d love to see in the Magic V2. Neither of those two devices offered wireless charging, protection against water, nor a hinge that would enable the phone to be folded in a number of different angles with confidence.
We do hope to see all three of those in the Magic V2, or at least some of those changes. HONOR did not share any official info about the device, but some info did surface recently.
The HONOR Magic V2 will allegedly arrive in both Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 variants. Improved displays are also expected, with high-frequency PWM dimming. Let’s hope that both panels will offer a 120Hz refresh rate this time around.
