OnePlus won’t be the first to offer a smartphone with 24GB of RAM. As reported yesterday, the company is seemingly planning to release a 24GB RAM model of the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro.
OnePlus won’t be the first to launch a 24GB RAM smartphone, RedMagic will
Well, one Chinese smartphone manufacturer will beat OnePlus to the punch, it seems. We’re talking about RedMagic. The RedMagic 8S Pro is coming on July 5, and the company flat out confirmed that it’ll have a 24GB RAM model.
Those teasers were shared via Weibo, so that model is coming to China. The RedMagic 8S Pro will launch globally too, but we’re not sure it will be available in a 24GB RAM model.
Just to be clear, we’re not talking about virtual RAM here, not at all. The phone will ship with 24GB of actual RAM, if we had to guess, we’d say it’ll be LPDDR5X RAM.
The ‘Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version’ SoC will be included
That’s not the only thing that the company confirmed, however. It also confirmed that the RedMagic 8S Pro will come with the ‘Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version’ SoC, which will be clocked at 3,36GHz.
The GPU on that SoC, the Adreno 740, will also be clocked higher than usual. It will come with a 719MHz clock speed, compared to 680MHz that the usual version offers.
This smartphone will also offer UFS 4.0 flash storage. We’re expecting to see a 6.8-inch fullHD+ OLED display on the device, which will support a 120Hz refresh rate. A 50-megapixel main camera is expected, along with an 8-megapixel ultrawide unit, and a 2-megapixel macro camera.
Realme is also planning to deliver a smartphone with 24GB of RAM
Much like the RedMagic 8 Pro, this smartphone will come with an under-display camera. This will be a gaming smartphone after all, so screen real estate is quite important, needless to say. Do note that Realme is also planning a 24GB RAM smartphone, it seems, in addition to OnePlus and RedMagic.
