Yuzu, perhaps the most popular Nintendo Switch emulator for PC, now makes an Android app so you can play your games on the go. Sure, a Nintendo Switch is already a portable console and is meant for playing games on the go.

But the Switch isn’t as portable as a smartphone. Which is what makes this arrival of Yuzu for Android an exciting one. This isn’t the first Switch emulator that’s been available on Android, but it is likely to be the new favorite. Given how popular it is for PC users.

There are two versions of the app you can download and install. There’s yuzu Emulator and yuzu Emulator – Early Access. The latter app lets you have access to new features early. Though this version of the app does cost $4.99. The standard yuzu Emulator on the other hand is completely free.

yuzu Emulator won’t work on all Android devices

Before you get too excited over playing your Switch games on your Android device, there are some limitations. Not every Android device will work.

In fact the yuzu developers have laid out a list of requirements. Your device needs to be running with a Qualcomm chipset as the devs say anything other than Qualcomm is expected “to not work.” You’ll also need to have at least a Snapdragon 865 and at least 8GB of RAM. It’s also noted that a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is preferred.

If you have a device that meets those minimum specs, the app will walk you through setting everything up from dumping your Switch games and files to button mapping. yuzu Emulator comes with on-screen touch controls but it also supports external controllers.

So if you have something like a Razer Kishi V2 or Backbone One, you can use those instead. If you want to give yuzu Emulator a try for yourself, you can pick up the app from the Play Store.
