Well, it’s about time! After years of waiting, Google has finally officially taken the wraps off of its first foldable phone. In a short teaser, the company gave us a look at what the Pixel Fold will look like, and it’s exactly as we imagined.
In case you didn’t notice, we’ve been following rumors of a Pixel foldable device for a while. Early renders of the device showed what would have looked like a Pixel 6 but foldable. However, Front Page Tech was able to give us a ton of leaked renders showing us how the device actually looks. The official teaser lines up with these renders.
Google finally teases its pixel fold
The teaser for the pixel fold is very short, being only 8 seconds long. Also, it was accompanied by the text ” May the fold be with you”, making a reference to the fact that this is Star Wars Day, May 4th.
In the video, we get a look at this phone’s rounded rectangular visor on the back. It has cutouts for the camera similar to what we saw on the Pixel 7 Pro.
As for the overall shape, it looks like Google took the route established by Oppo by offering an overall wider phone. When closed, it looks like it’ll be wider than what we see with the Galaxy Fold devices.
The inner display also looks like what we’ve seen in previous leaks. There is a pretty significant bezel around the display, and it’s more significant on the top and bottom. However, this means that the phone will have an uninterrupted display, as the selfie camera will be housed in the bezel.

Along with the hardware, we get a look at the software. This would be the first time that we see the foldable Android software on a device straight from Google. It doesn’t look very different from what we would see on a regular slab phone, only, it’s a bit more stretched out. We may have gotten a short teaser of the pixel fold software in a previous Android teaser.
Specs
The Pixel Fold is expected to have a 5.8-inch outer display with a resolution of 2092 x 1,080 and a 7.6-inch inner display with a resolution of 2,208 x 1,840. They’re both expected to run at 120Hz.
As for the internals, the Pixel Fold will use the tensor G2 SoC. We expect it to be backed up by 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of onboard storage.
The camera package is expected to have a 48-megapixel main camera accompanied by a 10.8-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 10.8-megapixel 5x telephoto camera. Up front, we expect the front-facing camera to be a 9.5-megapixel camera.
As for the price, the base Pixel Fold should launch at $1,799. This is for the 256GB storage variant. As for the 512GB, this one is expected to cost $1,919. Google will give us more information on this phone during Google I/O which is going to happen next Wednesday. Mark your calendars!
