Samsung may keep its flagship smartphone design largely unchanged next year. Rumors are that the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ will look the same as their predecessors. The Galaxy S24 Ultra may get minor changes to the rear camera system but nothing big.

Samsung launches dozens of smartphones every year across various price points. Until last year, Galaxy devices came with varying designs that appear to be randomly selected. There was no specific pattern. However, the company went a different route this year. All Galaxy smartphones launched so far in 2023 (12 models in total) share the same rear design. The rear cameras protrude out of the back panel individually on every device. There’s no camera bump on any of them.

This applies to the Galaxy S23 series flagships as well as budget models such as the Galaxy A14 5G. Most devices also feature a flat back, though it’s not consistent on all 12 of them. But the rear camera layout is unchanged across the 2023 Galaxy family.

More importantly, Samsung switched from the contour-cut rear camera design on the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ to this simplistic design on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+. The Ultra model already had this design last year, so it kept things unchanged.

Samsung seemingly wants to create a design identity for Galaxy devices

By the looks of it, Samsung wants to create a design identity for Galaxy devices. Early Galaxy S24 rumors suggest the same. According to noted Twitter tipster @Tech_Reve, the 2024 Samsung flagships will share the design with the 2023 models. As said earlier, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will look slightly different, possibly because it features one less camera at the back. Rumors are that the company will equip the phone with a variable zoom camera that offers optical zoom at all magnification levels between 3X and 10X.

Long story short, Samsung has seemingly finalized a design language for its smartphones and doesn’t plan to deviate too much from it. The company may make minor changes in some areas, but all Galaxy smartphones could look the same from the back in the coming years- similar to what Apple does with its iPhones.

However, it’s still too early to say for sure. We will have to wait until next year to see if the Korean behemoth keeps the design unchanged for its budget and mid-range models as well. We will let you know as soon as we have more information.
