It’s no secret that Google’s first Android 14 beta release last month was riddled with bugs and issues, ranging from unresponsive fingerprint sensors to system crashes. However, Google has now taken action to address these problems with the release of the Android 14 Beta 1.1 patch, which is available to download for compatible Pixel devices, and is just 7.01MB in size.

A number of issues were spotted in the initial release

The Android Beta Subreddit page announced the mid-cycle update, which includes fixes for crashes in the system UI when accessing the Wallpaper & Style screen, fingerprint unlock problems, and mobile network issues not displaying on the status bar. Additionally, the patch resolves issues related to the SIM card or eSIM detection and Smart Lock messages on the lock screen.

While the new Android 14 Beta 1.1 update does not include many new features or Easter eggs, it’s great to see Google prioritizing bug fixes to improve the user experience. And for enthusiasts, this update would make daily driving Android 14 a lot easier. Furthermore, as we approach the Google I/O conference, we can expect more incremental releases and improvements to Android 14 as the company continues to add new features and refine its latest Android release.

Download the Android Beta for your Pixel device

To experience the new Android 14 update, which Google will officially release later this year, there are two options available. The first one is to enrol in the Android Beta Program, which is available for Pixel 4a, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, and Pixel 7 series devices, and download the beta update directly on your phone.

However, if you don’t want to go through the pain of applying to the beta program, you can manually install the Android 14 update by finding an appropriate factory image for your device and installing it on your compatible phone.
