Samsung has quietly taken the wraps off a new mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A24. The company has listed the device with detailed hardware specs on its official website for Vietnam. The price and release date are still missing, though.
Galaxy A24 boasts a big and bright Super AMOLED display
The Galaxy A24 arrives as Samsung’s latest mid-range offering following the launch of the Galaxy A54 5G and Galaxy A34 5G last month. The new handset shares the rear design with its siblings, featuring a flat back with three separate camera circles. There’s no camera bump on any Galaxy smartphone launched in 2023 so far.
On the front, we have a notched display with relatively chunky bezels. It’s a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution (1080 x 2340 pixels) and 1,000 nits of peak brightness. Samsung doesn’t mention the screen refresh rate but rumors say the Galaxy A24 features a 90Hz refresh rate.
Samsung also doesn’t name the processor that powers this phone. All it says is that the chipset has an octa-core CPU with a maximum clock speed of 2.2GHz. Based on earlier leaks and rumors, it should be MediaTek’s Helio G99 processor. This chipset has two ARM Cortex-A76 CPU cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz. Samsung has paired the processors with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage capacity, with support for microSD cards up to 1TB.
The Galaxy A24 features a 50MP primary rear camera that supports OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). You also get a 5MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, we have a 13MP camera for selfies and video calls. Fueling the whole setup is a 5,000mAh battery. It should support 25W fast charging. Other highlights include dual-SIM support, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5 mm headphone jack with Dolby Atmos support, NFC, and Android 13. The handset comes in Lime Green, Vampire Black, burgundy, and silver colors.
Price and availability
As said earlier, Samsung hasn’t yet revealed the price and availability details of the Galaxy A24. The official listing on its Vietnamese website says the product is not for sale. But with everything revealed, it should just be a matter of time before the new mid-range smartphone is available for purchase. Samsung didn’t sell last year’s Galaxy A23 in the US, though its 5G version arrived stateside. It’s unclear if it will bring the Galaxy A24 to the US. We will let you know if it does.
