After months of speculation, Xiaomi and Leica have just confirmed the existence of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The two companies have also confirmed that the phone will launch globally, not just in China.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra existence confirmed, with launch scheduled this month
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will launch in China this month, and it seems globally too. We still don’t know the exact date, but it’s official that it’s coming. April 17 is rumored, as it surfaced on a leaked poster, but Xiaomi still didn’t announce it.
The global launch may happen at the same time, or a bit after the China launch. It remains to be seen. Lei Jun promised back in August last year that the next ‘Ultra’ phone is coming to global markets, and this is it.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra rumors and leaks have been surfacing for quite some time. It seems like the device will feature similar specs as its ‘Pro’ sibling, but with some notable improvements. Well, one major improvement, to be accurate.
There are three 50-megapixel cameras on the back of the Xiaomi 13 Pro. The phone has a wide-angle main unit (1-inch camera sensor), an ultrawide camera, and a telephoto camera. Well, it seems like the ‘Ultra’ will retain all of those, and add a fourth 50-megapixel camera on the back, at least based on a recent rumor.
The phone will also launch globally, and will likely include a periscope camera
It’s not difficult to guess what’s coming… a periscope camera. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra included a periscope camera last year, and it seems like its successor will get one too. This camera will enable you to zoom into far away objects with ease. It will be interesting to see Xiaomi’s and Leica’s implementation this time around.
The phone will retain many of the Xiaomi 13 Pro’s specs. It will ship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, and include LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. The same exact 6.73-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate will likely be used.
The ‘Ultra’ is tipped to include a slightly larger 4,900mAh battery, and slightly slower wired charging (90W vs 120W). It will also offer 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.
