Stadia itself was shutdown quite some time ago, back in January in fact, but the Discord server has stayed online. Allowing fans of the service to continue chatting about a product they loved. Sadly, that same Stadia Discord server is going offline tomorrow.
To be clear, this is the official Stadia server. The one that was run and moderated by Stadia employees. There may still be unofficial Discord servers out there dedicated to the service even though it no longer exists.
But with the official server now shutting down it really does drive home that, Stadia is truly gone. If it didn’t sink in when the service was brought offline on January 18, the official Discord server disappearing will certainly do the trick.
Google officially announced earlier this year that the Discord server would be going offline as well. And yesterday a reminder was pushed out to members of the server just in case anyone forgot.
The Stadia Discord server goes offline March 31
While the server does go offline tomorrow, it won’t be going away immediately. Members of the server will still have most of the day to chitchat about Stadia and all things Stadia gaming until later in the evening. The server will officially close at 5pm PST according to a message posted by DanFromGoogle. Which feels like a fitting sendoff given that tomorrow is Friday and 5pm is when most people will be getting off of work for the weekend.
Once the Discord server goes down, you still be able to discuss the service over on the subreddit. And as mentioned there may be unofficial Stadia servers available for communication between fans. Should you desire to continue being in one of those communities. All of that being said, there’s not much point in the official Discord server staying online since the service is now gone. Stadia, it’s been a pleasure, but it’s time to move on.
